Russell Crowe and Emma Watson filming in Iceland

Filming of religious epic film Noah, starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson, has begun in Reynisfjara Beach on the South Coast of Iceland. The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky and will be shot on location in Iceland and New York.

The film is written by Aronofsky and John Logan and tells the story of the biblical figure Noah and his attempt to tell his people to cease their mistreatment of the earth in order to be saved. It is based on the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark.

Emma Watson tweeted to her fans on Thursday after arriving in Iceland: “I’m in ICELAND! Boo Ya!

The film is distributed by Paramount Pictures and will be released on March 28, 2014.
