Katrín Júlíusdóttir appointed Iceland’s Minister of Finance

Katrín Júlíusdóttir has been appointed Iceland’s Minister of Finance. She will taka office on October 1, 2012. This was announced at the Social Democratic Alliance parliamentary party meeting this morning. Júlíusdóttir was elected to the Parliament of Iceland in 2003 and served as Minister of Industry and Tourism from May 2009 to January this year when she went on maternity leave.

Outgoing Finance Minister Oddný Harðardóttir will present next year’s budget to the Parliament before leaving office this fall.
