Húsavík Airport will reopen for domestic flights this spring, after being mostly closed for the past 10 years. The airport has served as a backup landing base for Air Iceland’s route from Reykjavík to Akureyri. With the full reopening of the airport, domestic carrier Eagle Air will resume a scheduled flight between Húsavík and Reykjavík Airport, a route which was previously operated by Air Iceland.
Eagle Air also offers flights from the capital Reykjavík to Bíldudalur, Gjögur, Höfn and Vestmannaeyjar islands. The Húsavík flights will start on April 15th, 2012.
