Locatify, a small Icelandic software company, has designed a program that allows iPhone and iPad users to experience Iceland, Norway, Greenland and the Faroe Islands with storyteller narrations, pictures and maps. The App is called SmartGuide North Atlantic and can be bought through the online Apple App Store.
“We’re extending the smart guide platform to add game features and the interaction between teams competing in a treasure hunt game. Game designers can design their games and publish them to players with iPhone or Android smart phones.” The company was founded in 2009 by Leifur Björn Björnsson and his wife Steinunn Anna Gunnlaugsdóttir. The program was developed with a grant from the Nordic Atlantic Cooperation.
The tours are presented in a unique way, on location using the GPS activated guide and include audio narrations, pictures and maps. The App is also available for travellers in Germany, featuring interesting places in Germany.
