Order of the Falcon medal

The Order of the Falcon (known in Iceland as Fálkaorðan) is the national Order of Iceland, established in 1921 by then king of Denmark and Iceland, Christian X. The order is the highest honour presented to Icelanders and foreigners alike, by the President of Iceland. Among notable recipients are Sue McCourt Cobb, US Ambassador to Jamaica, violinist Sigrún Eðvaldsdóttir, police officer Arthur Young and Rory McTurk, Professor of Icelandic Studies.

The medal that is now for sale on eBay is an old one, most likely awarded to a foreigner in the 1960’s. According to Icelandic law, it is illegal to sell Order of the Falcon medals.
