Icelandic film producer Sigurjón Sighvatsson has secured film rights to Yrsa Sigurðardóttir’s new crime thriller Ég man þig, published last year.
The book is a highly compelling thriller set against the backdrop of Icelandic landscape. Sighvatsson has produced over 40 movies and television series in his 20-year career in Hollywood, and is best known for the 1990 film Wild at Heart, where he worked with director David Lynch and actors Nicolas Cage, Laura Dern and Willem Dafoe. Publisher Pétur Már Ólafsson has said it is likely the film will be shot in Iceland.
This is a uniquely Icelandic and international thriller, Ólafsson said on Iceland national radio last week. Ég man þig is Sigurðardóttir’s sixth crime novel.
